1. Specifying Region for Allergens
Food allergen regulations differ across regions. Apicbase allows you to choose a regional allergen compliance standard to ensure your allergen exports and labels match local regulatory requirements.
1.1. Where to Configure the Allergen Region
-
Go to Library Settings
-
Open Nutrition & Allergens
-
Find Region for Allergens Compliance
-
Select the appropriate region: European Union, USA, UK, Australia / New Zealand, or All.
This setting affects how allergens are presented in exports and labels but not how you record them.
1.2. How the Selected Region Impacts Data Entry
The selected region does not affect how you enter allergen data.
-
When adding allergens manually in the UI or through Excel import, all allergens supported by Apicbase remain visible, regardless of the region.
-
No allergen categories are hidden or restricted based on your regional setting.
This ensures full flexibility:
You can always store all possible allergen information, even if only part of it is relevant for your local compliance rules.
1.3. How the Selected Region Impacts Exporting and Reporting
The allergen region does impact output, including:
-
Menu allergen export lists
-
Printed nutritional/allergen labels
Only allergens required for the selected region are included in these exports.
Any allergens not part of the selected region’s regulatory list are automatically excluded.
This ensures your allergen communication matches the regulatory standard of your region.
2. Specifying Region for Nutrition Reference Intake
Nutrition reference intake values differ across regions. Apicbase allows you to choose the appropriate regional standard so that all nutritional percentages comply with local regulations.
2.1. What the Reference Intake Region Does
The chosen region determines which reference values are used to calculate percentage intake values shown in:
-
Recipe nutritional exports
-
Nutritional labels
Supported regions:
-
EU → Reference Intake (RI)
-
US → Daily Value (DV). Apicbase uses the latest FDA updated values.
These regional standards affect how percentages for energy, fat, carbohydrates, protein, sugar, salt/sodium, vitamins, and minerals are calculated.
2.2. Where to Configure the Nutrition Reference Intake Region
-
Go to Library Settings
-
Open General Settings
-
Locate Nutrition Label Reference Intake Region
-
Select Europe or United States
Note: Europe is selected by default.
