Metro Austria
METRO Austria is one of the leading wholesalers in Austria. With this integration you get your own METRO articles and prices in Apicbase and send your orders to METRO electronically. This article explains what the integration covers, how to get connected and what to do when an order does not go out.
What the integration does
Assortment. You see the articles in your agreement with METRO, with your prices. Each assortment belongs to one METRO distribution center, and prices can differ between centers, so the same article can cost a different amount for outlets supplied by different centers. METRO sends the data every night and Apicbase updates your library automatically.
Articles come in as ingredients with packages, including multi-level packages (for example 6 x 30 cl), net weight or volume, the price per package and per unit (per kg or per litre), the barcode (GTIN) of the orderable package, brand, packaging type, and allergens and nutritional values when METRO provides them. Lead times are not included, and each ingredient has one orderable METRO package.
METRO keeps these articles up to date, so you cannot edit or delete their packages. An article METRO no longer offers you stays in your library but can no longer be ordered. Archive it if you no longer need it.
Orders. Orders you send to METRO reach them electronically. When the supplier has an email address in Apicbase, METRO also receives the order by email. Order confirmations, delivery notes and invoices do not come into Apicbase.
Getting connected
Ask your Customer Success Manager to connect METRO Austria. Have this ready for each outlet:
- its GLN (location number), which you request from GS1 Austria. The GLN is the outlet's customer number for METRO.
- the METRO distribution center that supplies it. METRO can tell you.
If your outlets are supplied by different distribution centers, you get one METRO Austria supplier per center. Your articles appear after the next nightly update.
Checking the setup
Before your first order:
- Open the supplier, go to the Outlet Ordering Details tab and check that every outlet has its GLN under Customer Numbers.
- Go to the Integration Settings tab and check that Distribution Center shows the center that supplies these outlets. Only users with the Supplier Integration Admin permission see this tab.

Leave Invoice GLN empty, unless METRO invoices another GLN than the outlet's own, for example your head office. Then enter that GLN and select Save.
Sending an order
Create and send the purchase order as usual. Pick the outlet's customer number (its GLN) and set a delivery date. Once sent, the order shows as ordered and you receive the usual confirmation email.

Make sure Mock orders on the Integration Settings tab is not ticked. With Mock orders ticked, your order shows as ordered, but nothing reaches METRO.
When an order does not go out
In each of these cases nothing is sent, so you can fix it and send the order again.
